A £10,300,000 lottery winner is the victim of an alleged assault in what is said to have been a violent rampage. John Bowman who became a multi-millionaire last April is one of three people that Marshall Baer stands accused of attacking in a violent attack at his local pub where he is said to have punched Bowman to the ground and kicked him.
It’s alleged that 61-year-old Marshall Baer pushed his former partner while on a night out in the Burns Bar, in East High Street Forfar. After making his partner’s head hit the wall, Baer is then accused of attacking another woman, and lottery winner Mr Bowman in what is said by prosecutors to have been a frenzied and prolonged attack.
Baer is also said to have driven away from the scene, causing an accident and on this count is charged with driving without due care or attention after driving at excessive speed, losing control on an s-bend and overturning his vehicle.
Baer denies all charges in the case and now a trial date has been set for March 17th for the case to be heard in full.
While the case isn’t connected to John Bowman’s lottery win, his slice of fame is making this national news, in Scotland at least. Bowman hit the headlines in April last year netting £10,300,000 in the UK Lotto. Originally the winner thought he had scooped £10,000 but after a friend double checked the ticket he realised he had won the jackpot. Bowman celebrated with a pint at his local pub then picked up his cheque at a press conference at a hotel near Glasgow.
