We often think of lottery draws creating millionaires but scratchcards these days also offer jackpot-sized prizes, as one young dad found out when he scratched off his card to find he was a £1,000,000 winner!
Jamie Kay from Bournemouth only became a father a few weeks ago, so he’ll know every penny counts. That‘s why he was out working for the family roofing company with his Uncle last week when they stopped to refuel and buy some lunch.
As he was going to pay, Jamie saw the man in front of him buying a scratchcard as he paid. Jamie has a superstition where he only buys scratchcards when he sees someone else buy one, and always buys the same one as the customer in front. So when his turn came, he bought a scratchcard and while walking to breakfast realised he had a winner. When he finally realised he had won a £1,000,000 prize he leapt for joy.
With a new family to support, Jamie Kay, who is just 22-years-old intends on investing his win in the family’s first home, he doesn’t intend on being reckless but he says that his one treat will be a nice car.
It’s a great story and there’s not much better to get a young family on their feet than a £1,000,000 windfall, which should make all the difference to their lives as they bring up their young child.
Although Mr. Kay doesn’t confirm which scratchcard he bought, the prize came from a £5 National Lottery card and was bought in the Co-Op at Ower services just off the M27.
